OUR STORY

CMCS Director Terry Lalor has been involved in the sports industry as an athlete, coach, sports administrator and national level manager for over 20 years. As an athlete he was a member of various Australian national youth swim teams and was a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport before retiring to pursue a career in coaching. Terry has been the head coach of numerous swim clubs both in Australia and overseas, helping athletes achieve continued success from the grassroots levels through to international representation.

Terry has spent considerable time within the corporate sector taking on such roles as the Performance and Development Coach for Swimming Western Australia, the National Coaching Development Manager for the Australian Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association and the National Education Manager for Equestrian Australia.

Throughout these roles Terry engaged hundreds of coaches from around the world through workshops, clinics and one-on-one consultations. During this time, Terry noticed a considerable number of coaches wanting to talk about the more personal issues in their life such as; how to maintain their personal relationships whilst continuing their passion for coaching, how to improve their financial position by building a business around them and the significant impact that the parents and/or various club members were having on their own personal well-being.

With this in mind, Terry decided to create a service in which coaches could not only engage in best practice professional development activities but could also access a service that provided a safe, non-judgmental and completely confidential environment in which to talk about the more challenging issues going on in their life. Terry holds a Diploma of Counselling, an Advanced Diploma of Sports Management and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
